Chapter 24, article 10, division 8, section 24-293, schedule 41 (Use of <br /> <br /> certain streets by certain vehicles restricted), subsection (a) Hamakua, of the Hawaii County <br /> Code 1983 (1995 edition), is amended by deleting the following items: <br /> [(1) Vehicle with a capacity ofthree-quarters of a ton or over: <br /> (A) Pakalana Street between Lehua Street and Kukui Street in a northerly <br /> direction except that any vehicle equipped with safety brakes consisting of <br /> an automatic spring that will actuate the brakes when the air pressure drops <br /> below sixty pounds per square inch may be operated during the hours when <br /> Honokaa High and Elementary School is not in session. All vehicles <br /> equipped with safety brakes shall first be checked and approved by the chief <br /> engineer of the department of public works before they are operated on such <br /> street. The approval of the chief engineer shall be valid for a period of three <br /> months. <br /> (B) Waipio Valley Road in Hamakua from the top of the lookout to the bottom <br /> of the valley, restricted to four-wheel drive vehicles only. <br /> (C) Makai-bound traffic shall yield to mauka-bound traffic on the access road <br /> into Waipio Valley.] <br /> SECTION 2.
