COiTl~T'I"~ OF I~A~VI~ TAT'E OF I-IA~V~I`I <br /> SOLUTION 10T0. <br /> ~~~~LU°ri®~v ~v~® (2) eri~~~u~~ s~~~i~~i~~r i <br /> WH~I~~AeS, the State Department of the Attorney General Crime Prevention and Justice <br /> Assistance Division has awarded the Violent Crime Unit Grant monies to the Hawaii County Police <br /> Department; and <br /> WH~IZ~AS, these funds will provide for the creation of two (2) Police evidence Specialist I <br /> (Temporary) positions; and <br /> WhI~REo4S, these positions will supplement the crime lab and detective staff by assisting in <br /> the search, recovery, preservation, and marking of physical evidence at the crime scenes; and <br /> WB-I~REAS, with the increase in numbers of drug and alcohol related crimes, including <br /> accidents, the additional staffing for the crime lab will be a big asset to the detectives, criminalists, <br /> and patrol officers; and <br /> WHEREAS, Article V, Section 5-1.3(c) of the Hawaii County Charter states that the Mayor has <br /> <br /> the power to "Create positions...forrohich appropriations have been made by the council...". <br /> N®W, THEF2E1=®RE, IT RES®LVEC~ ~Y THE C®UIVCIL. ®F T6~E C~UIVTY ®E I-IAWAI`I <br /> <br /> that two (2) Police Evidence Specialist I (Temporary), SR-18 positions be created. <br /> ~E IT FURTHER RES®L~VED that funds will be available through the State Department of <br /> <br /> Attorney General Crime Prevention and Justice Assistance Division's Violent Crime Unit Grant. <br /> iT 1FURTffER RES®1-V11wD that a copy of this resolution be transmitted to the Departments <br /> of Finance, Police, and Civil Service. <br /> <br />
