I know you do not want the
infamy of voting in favor of an irradiation plant here on our beloved island.
What if there WP.rP. an accident? How would your grandchildren behold
you?
People buying papayas, a health food, will not buy irradiatod fruit.
Sick persons needing good fresh papayas will find none. People who love
to visit Hawaii will stop coming Here when it becomes like where thoy
come from. Please, let us work with what we have, a resource of natural
beauty which will continue to draw visitors from all over the world. Let
us focus on presonting tho island as a unique place where the community
spirit is in support of the land, shaping it to provide a comfortable place
where folks can obtain renewal just by being here.
Perhaps an open-alr market pedestrian mall for visitors arriving in
Hdo would allow an outlet for our a'aftsmen and tarmer5, and provide a
draw for tourists. Work with what we have, and look at what we've got.
Don't make us like everywhere else. Thank you for the opportunity to be
heard.
ALOHA,
~i~%~~ i~~-v
(;omra.
