The company I work for
supports the concept as I do personally. I do not feel I need to
re-state that what was presented by me two weeks ago, however I
would like to speak about the following points.
There is no issue or valid controversy regarding the safety and
effectiveness of irradiation or an irradiation facility. I have
no need to doubt the research done over the past several decades
from Federal agencies such as USDA, FDA, NRC, EPA and the private
agencies of AMA and WHO. To doubt them and their data as being
lies and of them supplying tainted information to the public is
absolute lunacy.
The only issue before you today is the allocation and spending of
public funds. There are many projects funded by our County,
State, and Federa]. governments that benefit a certain group or

private business interests and they may benefit directly. On top
of that though is the added benefits to the community and public
as a whole because of the increased economic vitality incurred as

a result of the public funding. It is with this point that I
state we need the economic benefits this facility will provide to

the County and State.
Comia.
