A senior citizens <br /> development will require Medium Density Urban Zoning. The importance of this letter is to have this <br /> change of Density on the General Plan Land Use Pattern as the General Plan can only be modified once <br /> every ten years. As you requested, I am enclosing some of the correspondence that has taken place with <br /> <br /> the Planning Commission. This correspondence explains the needs of our senior citizens as we have <br /> virtually no facilities for our elderly retirees on the island. <br /> I have also included our presentation for a new boutique hotel in Hilo which requires Resort Zoning in <br /> order to provide accommodations with amenities such as a conference center, which will enhance <br /> business and support our local economy. Enclosed is a list of advantages to Hilo and the economy for this <br /> change in zoning for the property adjoining our corporate headquarters. There are also a few documents <br /> <br /> enclosed which reflect the presentation that was made to Chris Yuen and the Planning Commission. I am <br /> pleased the Planning Commission is recommending these two changes in the General Plan. <br /> I am grateful that your Committee on Planning is meeting on February 20, 2002 and I was delighted to <br /> hear that the General Plan revisions will be completed during May, June, and July of this year. <br /> Elizabeth and I will look forward to meeting with your Committee at any public hearings or workshops <br /> that. are appropriate.
