We shoatld be <br /> especially concerned about our dig Island economy as we may face a 'c in <br /> in unemployment. Developing a senior citizens facility will do wonders for e~nployrnent <br /> both in the construction and in ~e operation of assisted living facilities. We should be <br /> accelerating any new endeavor, which creates jobs as well as benefits our senior citizens. <br /> Fortunately, our country has coins together more than any time I can reincrnber since <br /> World War II, whin I was a teenager who there enlisted in the United States a Corp. <br /> Congress will be rraodifying several rules and we will also be changing the rs~les in the <br /> State Legislature to deal with this issue. We also need to c e our procedures flee <br /> county governanent in I-Iilo. The economy of bewail may be in more trouble than any <br /> other state due to our dependence on airplanes and tourism, and of course the neighbor <br /> islands are especially vulnerable. We need to do eve 'gin our power to presea~ve <br /> jobs, which is why I wrote the enclosed letter to Chris Yuen and the I'1 g <br /> Conarraission, as we need to develop future facilities for our senior citizens.
