Project Number O1-DE-18 <br /> CONTRACT <br /> THIS CONTRACT, executed on the respective dates indicated below, is effective <br /> as of _Marchi, 2002 by and between the Department of the Attorney General, State of Hawaii, <br /> hereinafter called "Agency", by and through the Attorney General, and the Hawaii County <br /> Police Department ,hereinafter called "Grantee". <br /> WITNESSETH <br /> WHEREAS, Title I of the Omnibus Crime Control and Safe Streets Act of 1968, <br /> 42 U. S. C. 3711 et sue., as amended (hereinafter "Act"), was enacted to make grants to state <br /> and local government units to assist them in enforcing state and local laws which establish <br /> offenses similar to those established in the Controlled Substances Act, and to improve the <br /> functioning of the criminal justice system, svith emphases on violent crime and serious offenders, <br /> including the following programs: <br /> <br /> (l) demand reduction education programs in which law enforcement officers participate; <br /> <br /> (2) multi jurisdictional task force programs that integrate federal, state and local drug law <br /> enforcement agencies and prosecutors for the purpose of enhancing interagency <br /> coordination and intelligence and facilitating multi jurisdictional investigations; <br /> <br />
