CTAHR has a rich history in developing procedures for the safe
use of irradiation to improve food quality and safety for over two decades. The research
of Dr. James Moy has been directed toward the application of irradiation to Hawaii
agricultural products. In addition, a major thrust ol'our college in the future is in the
postharvest value-added component of agriculture. CTAHR is most interested in
establishing collaboration between the College and the Hawaii County. CTAHR would
look forward to the possibility of collaboration in the development of educational
programs, appropriate research, and evaluation of nutritional quality of irradiated foods.
d'i'e want to be partners in the economic development and strengthening of our
agricultural industries. 1 look forward to an opportunity in which we might initiate these
conversations.
Sincerely,
~
Charles W.
