Although I arrived <br /> before the meeting started and signed up to testify, I never got to do so. I had to leave for work at <br /> 3:30 PM after cancelling my first 2 students of the day by telephone, in order to be able to stay at <br /> the meeting up to that time. <br /> I understand there was a list already on your desk at the beginning of the meeting, wntaining <br /> many names of people who were supporters of Bill 62. I also understand that this list had been <br /> put together by County employees before the date of the meeting, April 26. Although you made a <br /> real effort to be fair and suggested to the public to alternate pro and con, all present decided it to <br /> be most fair if you would go by the order in which the sign-up sheets were gathered earlier that <br /> day. Of course we did not know -and you did not volunteer the information- that there was this <br /> list in front of you with names already gathered BEFORE April 26 and that these people were <br /> called up first to speak, because they had "signed up" earlier than anybody elset <br /> 1 find this to be utterly undemocratic and it surely undermines my faith in fair and honest <br /> decision-making. ft makes me feel upset, rebellious and uncooperative with government. <br /> Therefore I recommend strongly that you revoke the Finance Committee's decision and give the <br /> public another opportunity to express their feelings regarding this "very controversial issue that <br /> divides the wmmunity" (Quoting your very own words). <br /> Thank yau. <br /> incerely, <br /> Ge u <br /> cc.
