As a memb®r of the community that uses t is area for sung, fishing and camping, <br /> support the efforts to protect Kohanaiki from the impact~° ~f exclusive /resort development <br /> along the coast for the following reasons: <br /> 1. `phis area is rich in native Hawaiian culty~ral sites including village areas, sacred/ <br /> ceremonial areas, anchialine. ponds, wetlands and trails as wail as habitat for endan- <br /> gered plants, birds and reef f sh. <br /> 2. ~fhe land is adjacent to the KaBoko Hongkohau National Park and -portion of it has <br /> been designated to be within the Congressionally Authorized Park ooundaries. <br /> 3. T'he local community as well as visitors enjoy the beach and coastal area as a prime <br /> surfing, fishing, day use and camping shot. <br /> The Kohanaiki 'Ghana, Na Keiki He'e N~lu and the Kona community have demon- <br /> strated commitment to stewardship of tB~e natural and culture! resources for over 11 <br /> years, providing bathrooms and trash pijck u~ . beach clean ups, trail and pond resto- <br /> ration projects. <br /> thank you for considering a positive vote for Open Space along the coast at Kohanaiki and for <br /> supporting Sill #163 <br /> Sincerely, ~ ~ ~ - <br /> . <br /> <br />
