The bepartment of i.and and Natural Resources recogtuzes the siknificance ot'the iiumrrau~ natural, scenic, lti9toric and cultucai resources which abound in Kohala qnd along its coast. The dapartn:e~tt strives to protect and preserve these resources with its limited stafl°ing and resources. 1~Ue rely upon the County's genera! plan and other area specific plans such as the County's drati Nortltwe3t 1-Iawaii Open Space and Community Development Plan to guide our efforts. The County is new in tf:e process of up-dating its general plan, which would appear to be an appropriate vehicle to address the planning concerns expressed by Senate Concurrent Resolution t 46, Senate Dra$ l .
