They had a saying there, "Where there's muck there's brass." "Muck" means dirt, filth, pollution. It also refers to a certain type of person. "Brass" means money. Where there's pollution there's money! I fought my way here through culture shock, life-style wars, rock and roll damnation, dog fights over Broadway and parallel hell and found healing in the ancient green prehistoric creature in the trees. Wellness in the wild, pristine environment, in clean air and clean water and kind people. The Spirit of Aloha. I will not have the Hawaiian birthright sold for a mess of potage! Geothermal will fail and it's failure will cost this county dearly for it's pig headed refusal to see the mounting and finally overwhelming evidence of the harm it does to people and the environment. I council you not to repeat this folly with the only thing worse than geothermal's poison gasses, that is nuclear radiation. I knew Chief Dan George, a native American. I stand in solidarity, if he will permit me, with Mr. Raymond Deadman, whose testimony before the Committee on Finance was the most moving and profound experience I have had in these chambers.
