COUNTY OF HAWAII STATE OF HAWAII <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 10 0..3 <br /> RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE OFFICE OF THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO AN <br /> <br /> AGREEMENT WITH THE STATE OF HAWAII, HAWAII COMMUNITY COLLEGE <br /> FOR ITS RURAL DEVELOPMENT PROJECT TO SUPPORT THE HAWAII COUNTY <br /> RESOURCE CENTER <br /> WHEREAS, the Hawaii Community College wishes to enter into a Memorandum of <br /> Understanding with the County of Hawaii for the support of the Hawaii County Resource Center; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Hawaii Community College Rural Development Project receives Federal <br /> <br /> funding for its program and one of its goals is to empower rural communities to access and acquire <br /> leadership skills and to develop community capacity building by identifying training and support for <br /> economic and business development; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Hawaii County Resource Center, established within the Department of <br /> Research and Development, will provide technical support and assistance for County agencies and <br /> community based organizations in the area of grant writing; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Rural Development Project will provide materials, supplies, equipment and <br /> technical support, as recommended by the County of Hawaii Department of Research and <br /> Development, to support the Hawaii County Resource Center; and <br /> WHEREAS, Hawaii Revised Statutes, Section 46-7, requires that county departments obtain <br /> the consent of the council to enter into agreements with the federal or state governments respecting <br /> action to be taken pursuant to any of the powers granted by law to furnish, expend, and receive any <br /> funds or other assistance in connection with projects being or to be undertaken pursuant to those <br /> powers. <br /> <br />
