STE 306, HONOLULU, HAWA,ft9~i814 (808) 593-0300' <br /> FAX (808) 593-0525 y " <br /> February 18, 2003 <br /> SUBJECT: BILL 265 <br /> To Chairwoman Bobby Jean Leithead-Todd and Members of the Hawaii <br /> County Committee on Planning: <br /> On behalf of Na Leo Pohai, the public policy affiliate of The Outdoor <br /> Circle, I would like to thank you for the opportunity to testify in support <br /> of amending Chapter 25 (Zoning Code) relating to Scenic Corridor <br /> Overlay Districts. <br /> Kona Outdoor Circle is anon-profit organization with a mission to keep <br /> Kona clean, green, and beautiful. The establishment of a new section <br /> for Scenic Corridor Overlay Zones within Chapter 25 provides the <br /> Planning Department with a useful to more effectively respond to <br /> regional planning needs of the County of Hawaii. The adoption of this <br /> new section will provide a mechanism to full a variety of priorities, <br /> ranging from enhancing and protecting areas of unique natural beauty, <br /> the identification and preservation sites of historical and cultural <br /> importance as well as to incxease recreational opportunities for the <br /> residents and visitors within the County of Hawaii. This aligns very well <br /> with KOC's goals for Kona and the Big Island. <br /> We ask that the Planning Committee vote to approve Bill 265 relating <br /> to Scenic Corridor Overlay Districts. <br /> Sincerely <br /> ai <br /> Rab S.
