Hawaii County <br /> Code Section 8-9 Use of fees, outlines the purpose of the fund and provides <br /> legal authority to utilize the moneys received on neighborhood or community <br /> <br /> facilities in "reasonable proximity" to the subdivision. In this case, the 3 <br /> subdivisions are within the Hilo area and locate at Waiakea, Kukuau, and <br /> Kaumana. <br /> <br /> The balance in the Ainaola Park account is a consolidation from nine <br /> subdivisions with funds totaling $62,750.00 deposited in the years 1975 to 1979. <br /> Most of the funds (with added interest totaling $172,630.27) were disbursed prior <br /> <br /> to 12/31/96 for Ahualani Park development. In 1999 the remaining funds <br /> ($11,941.60) were allotted to Ainaola Park, and combined with an HEI charitable <br /> <br /> foundation grant, was used for playground equipment at the park. The balance <br /> remaining in the account is $7,334.37. <br /> In 1977 a total of 1,500.00 was deposited in the Pacific Heights account. With <br /> added interest, it now totals $7,561.10.
