Responds to complaints and conducts preliminary investigations and may request for assistance from other 35 divisions or agencies; investigates misdemeanor, felony, and status offenses by and against adults as well as juveniles, involving such matters as runaways, wrfew violatitxts, persons in need of supervision, shoplifting, child malestanon and abuse, indeeertt exposure, and missing perstms: investigates cases involving the theft or converted use of automobiles; investigates t><fenses such as narcotic vitiations, nquor law violations, gamt>firtg, prostitution, etc.: protet~s txime scare, gathers and preserves evidence: taktssphoto~aphs of alma stxne and evidence; examines and evaluates fags and determines charges; makes arrests and bookings and prepares necessary forms and reports; takes fingerprints as required; takes phobograptts of defendants; intertogates and interviews suspects and witnesses involved: counsels juvenile offenders amd parents and makes referrals to sodal agencies as appropriate; testifies in court, familiar¢es self with txime conditions and records in notebook all information for follow- ups and investigations. (1)(2) 25 Investigates traffic-related accidents; cites for moving traffic violations, regulatory violations and parking violations; takes measurements and photographs scene, places charges and prepares detailed reports with scaled diagrams according to existing laws, ordinances and departmental policies; makes intensive follow-up investigations of traffic accident cases, inGuding felony and misdemeanor cases involving fatalities; testifies in court; operates a police vehicle to patrol areas having high vehice accident rates; directs flow of motor vehicle traffic; reports hazardous traffic conditions and recommends improvements; advises and assists patrol personnel in proper traffic accident investigation techniques; compiles and prepares daily statistical reports on traffic accidents as required.
