The City and County of Honolulu has civil service pilots Mayor Yamashiro is concerned <br /> that after July, there may not be am~ aeromedical or rescue services on the Big Island <br /> On Hawaii County, there are sixteen x~olunteer fire stations manned b~ ?$0 ~ olunteer fire fighters <br /> who serve without pay and prrnide fire protection coverage for a good portion of the Big Island <br /> Mayor Yamashiro is concerned that this may he potential violation ~4ost of the road resurfacine <br /> by the counties have been by private contract Will the existence of a Hawaii County road <br /> resurfacing crew be grounds that future resurfacing cannot be contracted out? :1 partial listing o1' <br /> contractual services which may he impacted was also provided by Mayor Yamashiro to further <br /> illustrate the potential magnitude of the decision (attached for information). <br /> HSAC' President Mansho will keep in touch with the Mayors on This issue and will contact the <br /> House and Senate to see what kind of input HSAC can provide so that the Mayors are not the <br /> sole voice of the counties on this matter <br /> Also under New Business, the Executive Committee was briefed by h7s Darrlvn Bunda of <br /> LOTMA_ who informed HSAC that her organization. as a member of the ~-ymerican High~~,as~ <br /> Users Alliance, a national organization out of Washington ll C _ recei~ es frequent advisories <br /> about pending transportation issues and expressed a willingness to share this information Frith <br /> HSAC on a regular basis. She also informed the Executive Committee that the State Van Pool <br /> Program. which in a demonstration phase on Maui.
