"J~c~ ITS <br /> Honorable Harry Kim <br /> Mayor, County of Hawaii <br /> 25 Aupuni Street <br /> Hilo, Hawaii 96720 <br /> Dear Mayor Kim: <br /> Memorandum of Agreement for <br /> FY 2003 State Homeland Security Grant Funds Part II <br /> The State of Hawaii has received approval from the Department of Homeland Security, <br /> through the Office for Domestic Preparedness, for the release of State Homeland <br /> Security Grant Program (SHSGP) Part II funds. <br /> This grant is a result of congressional funding for the purchase of specialized <br /> equipment to enhance the capability of state and county agencies to prevent and <br /> respond to incidents of terrorism involving the use of chemical, biological, radiological, <br /> nuclear or explosive (CBRNE) weapons. The grant also provides for the protection of <br /> critical infrastructure and prevention of terrorist incidents; for costs related to the design, <br /> development, conduct and evaluation of CBRNE Training Program; and for costs <br /> associated with implementing each state's Homeland Security Strategy. <br /> State Civil Defense has been designated as the recipient of the total allocated grant <br /> funds. Hawaii County is the final recipient of $2,250,000.
