Arakaki, Chairman <br /> and Members of the County Council <br /> County of Hawaii <br /> 25 Aupuni Street <br /> Hilo, HI 96720 <br /> Dear Chairman Arakaki and Members: <br /> State Land Use Boundary Amendment Application (SLU 03-001) <br /> Request: Agricultural to Urban <br /> Change of Zone Application (REZ 03-001) <br /> Request: Agricultural (A-20a) to Limited Industrial (ML-20) and <br /> Agricultural (A-Sa) <br /> Applicant: Puna Sugar Mill, LLC <br /> Tax Map Key~ I-6-3:99 <br /> The Planning Commission, after a duly held public hearing on September 22, 2003, voted to <br /> recommend for your approval the proposed legislative bills to change the State Land Use district <br /> from Agricultural to Urban for approximately 14.901 acres of land and the district classification <br /> from Agricultura120 acres (A-20a) to Limited Industrial 20,000 square feet (ML-20) for <br /> approximately 14.901 acres of land and Agricultural 5 acres (A-Sa) for approximately 8.724 <br /> acres of land. The property is the former Puna Sugar Company Mill site situated on the north <br /> side of the Milo Street extension, and bordering the McCully's MCX Subdivision, Keaau, Puna. <br /> The Commission concurs with the following findings as recommended by the Planning Director: <br /> State Land Use Boundary Amendment <br /> The approval of the reclassification from the State Land Use Agricultural to the <br /> Urban District for approximately 14.901 acres will not be violative of Section 205-2, <br /> Chapter 205, Hawaii Revised Statutes, nor will the reclassification actions be inconsistent <br /> with the Hawaii Land Use Commission Rules, the Hawaii State Plan and the County <br /> <br />
