It is critical to our members tllat our <br /> highway access be retained when Queen Kaahumanu Highway is widened. <br /> We understand that the State Department of Transportation(DOT) is the ultimate <br /> authority as to this issue, and we will continue to be pro-active in addressing this issue and <br /> formulating potential solutions with DOT. <br /> Last year, Rutter/KW Kohanaiki, LLC(Rutter), the developer of the Shores at Kohanaiki, <br /> a project that is to be located makai of Kohanaiki Business Park and the Queen Kaafiumanu <br /> Highway, agreed to work with our Association in addressing highway issues with DOT. We <br /> expect to be working with Rutter and its engineers within the next few weeks on those issues. <br /> We hope that our other neighbors will also join in this cooperative effort to develop a <br /> plan that will be acceptable to DOT and will protect the interests of property owners in this <br /> segment of the highway corridor to and from Kailua-Kona. <br /> I appreciate the opportunity to provide this information to you.
