lL_
Reginald T. Morimoto
' 97 JUL 1 PCl 3 25 78-6852 walua Road
Kailua-Kona, Hawaii 96740
COUNTY (~i- HAWAII
June 27, 1997

Hawaii County Council

County of Hawaii

25 Aupuni Street

Hilo, Hawaii 96720

Ladies and Gentlemen:
Reference: Federal Aid Grants for Marijuana Eradication
I submit to you this day, my absolute support for the Hawaii County Police Depaztment's
continued receipt of the above referenced grants to aid in their battle against the ever present
illegal marijuana production.
The concerns that currently surround this issue aze well taken, however we cannot allow the
eventual resolution of those concerns, to take precedence over what the primazy focus is all
about. We need to stop the production of marijuana now, and use every resource that is available
to us to do it. Resolve issues, move forward, keep focused...let us not burn bridges.
As a concerned citizen, and a former member of the Hawaii County Police Commission, I urge
you to consider this issue very cazefully. The ultimate focus is the eradication of mazijuana, all
esle can be resolved in the process. I am confident that you will have the welfaze of our
communities at heart, and make the only decision possible...the right one.
Sincerely,
~Lr~
inald T.
