Safarik, Councilperson <br /> Hawaii County Council <br /> SUBJECT: Pahoa Resource Park <br /> TMK: 1-5-002-024 <br /> For your information, I have attached the sales data from the County Real <br /> Property Tax Office which indicates that the property was purchased almost two years <br /> ago for $100,000 by [he current landowner, Ms. Monica Mallick. <br /> As stated in the memorandum from Bill Takaba, our final offer of $325,000 for <br /> the property was rejected primary due to price, however Ms. Mallick also verbally <br /> expressed concerns about the public purpose need for the Park. As you know, the public <br /> purpose need for the Park has been established long before the property was purchased by <br /> the current landowner and long before I was elected to represent the Puna district. <br /> Prior to initiating the condemnation process, we may consider retaining the <br /> services of another commercial appraiser to conduct a review appraisal, which will take <br /> into account the disparate fair market values of the appraisers hired by the County and the <br /> landowner.
