Murrill, Aloha Council members,
Treasurer
I am writing to you to comment on Bill 77. Thank-you for including our concerns,
srepnanie Hines, outlined in communication 272.03, on the agenda.
Secretary
As you know, additional information has been received since Bill 77 first surfaced.
Angie Baker We do support the intent of the Bill to allow the Administration to take care of essential
funding requirements on a timely basis.
Nick Beming We also note, however, that during the Finance Committee meeting, information
Jerry Daniels was lacking on the details for the intended distribution of the $10 million being requested.
Fortunately, the committee members asked many questions for clarification. Thanks to
Bob Hillier
Ms. Leithead Todd for her amendment identifying $500,000 for the Materials Recovery
Wayne Knapsted Facility.
Catherine Morgan In support of our concern for informed decision-making, I am enclosing a copy of a
newspaper article that appeared in the Hawaii Tribune Herald the morning after the
Margaret Pahio committee meeting. Imagine my surprise when I found a detailed list (reasonable, I might
Anne St. Johns add) of funding requirements for the subjects under discussion. According to the HTH
author, Kevin Dayton, the information was obtained from Harry Takahashi.
If in fact, these are the funding requirements ($7 million for the Hilo Landfill
Laurel Dekker,
Executive Director closure, $1.5 million for West Hawaii additional hauling, $500,000 for the materials
Jeli rnrner, c.P.A. recovery facility and the remaining $1 million possibly for Kealakehe fires7) please adopt
Asst. Treasurer an amendment indicating so. Then we all know where the money will go and Bill 77 is
warranted.
Thank-you for the opportunity to address this bill.
Visit our web site: O
htlpl/www.kohala.neU Res ectfull r mr~a.
