I am well aware of the steady growth in this area. I w t the entire County Council to be aware of my complete su ort for Cliftos project. Every day thousands of vehicles come do n Palani Rd, Hina Lani Rd and Ka' iminani Rd to get into Kona to to shop and do business. Just imagine a large percentage of tha~ traffic turning into Cliftos proposed shopping center, thus relieving the congestion in the downtown Kona area. There is no question that Mr. Kim's veto must be overturned. It appears that Mr. Kim's veto is clearly self serving as the upcoming ele tion pends. There is no new information that I can see to justify an of the Council Members changing there vote. If they voted yes 2 eeks ago for Cliftos than they must again vote yes to override the iveto. Just the fact that a few hundred folks protest this project does not justify killing the project. These people are against any ne development or projects in the Kona area no matter if they are go d or bad. These type of complainers are living in the 1940's. Th re is no way to go back to how kona was 50 yeass ago. The pe le will come to Kona with or without a 41ane highway in fro t of the Clifto project. You must redirect the traffic flow to do town Kona and Cliftos project will surely do that. There is a shopping center in Keauhou that is approximately 5 mils north of Kona town. Can you imagine if that shopping center was not there and all the Keauhou traffic had to come in to Kona town.
