<br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> o The County of Hawaii shall strive for an economic climate which provides <br /> its residents an opportunity for choice of occupation. <br /> <br /> o The County of Hawaii's land, water, air, sea, and people shall be <br /> considered as essential economic resources for present and future <br /> <br /> generations and should be protected and enhanced through the use of <br /> economic incentives. <br /> <br /> o The County shall identify and encourage primary industries that are <br /> consistent with the social, physical, and economic goals of the residents of <br /> <br /> the County. <br /> <br /> <br /> The proposed amendments to the zoning ordinance comply with the following <br /> <br /> goals, policies and objectives of the Land Use Element of the General Plan. <br /> <br /> <br /> LAND USE <br /> <br /> <br /> Through the careful analysis and examination ofpast and present situations, the <br /> following goals, policies, and standards are set forth to physically plan the lands in the <br /> <br /> County in the best interest of the island's residents. <br /> <br /> <br /> GOALS <br /> o Designate and allocate land uses in appropriate proportions and mix and <br /> <br /> in keeping with the social, cultural, and physical environments of the <br /> County. <br /> <br /> o Protect and encourage the intensive utilization of the County's important <br /> agricultural lands. <br /> <br /> <br /> POLICIES <br /> <br /> o Allocate appropriate requested zoning in accordance with the existing or <br /> projected needs of neighborhood, community, region and County. <br /> <br /> o The county shall encourage the development and maintenance of <br /> <br /> <br /> 4 <br />
