How many of you have spoken with any of the
residents wh reside in Kailua View Estates, Kona Heights, Kcaloha and Keolani subdivisions?
if so, what a their thbughts on Nani Kona Aina? As 1 recall at the public hearing on March S,
2004, at the g Kamehameha Hotel, the majority of the testimony wee against this project.
i know this is the feeling of the residents, as I have gone door to door to about SO houses in
Kailua View states and Kona Heights and I did not Rnd anyone in favor of this project. Let
me share the idrnts concerns with you.
1. The speeding in the neighborhood, more houses and cars, will just add to this problem. If
the Hienelbli-Kahului Road is opened to the south before the Lako St. Mauka-Makia road is
opened, it 11 bring a flood of cars ftnm Holualoa using Nana Kailua Dr. as their Mauka-
Makia ma~. This will really aggravate the situation on a neighborhood road. The situation
is already Out of control on the streets in these subdivisions, so why make it worse?
2. Aeople are IIafraid their property values will go down, living on busy streets, not to mention
the safety tlf gating out of their driveways daily or walking. There are a lot of people who
walk in these subdivisions and feel more cars will make it unsafe to walk.
3. Tho last co~cern is flooding. With the heavy rains Kailua-Kona has received lauly, we on
Nsni *Cail Dr., can hear the water mm~ing down the hillside to the North of the Kealoha
Subdivisi To be able to hear water running down a hillside over 2 blocks away after a
heavy rain a scary to say the least And this is where Mr. Bolton wants to build his new
houses. I yself feel there is going to be a flooding problem on this property.
I feel this pro ect has 3 strong issues against it and it looks like I'm not the only one. After
going door to door and asking people what they thought, t found out I wasn't alone. So
please vote a on this project.
Sincerely,
Patricia Olson
73-344 Nem Kailua Dt,
KailuarKona, CHI 96740
438 .Si
Comm. No.
Ref.
