<br /> STATEWIDE MARIJUANA ERADICATION TASK FORCE <br /> PROJECT NO. 02-DB-19 <br /> REPORT TO COUNTY COUNCIL <br /> <br /> SEPTEMBER 1, 2003 -FEBRUARY 29, 2004 <br /> PAGE 2 <br /> B. PROGRAM ACTIVITIES: <br /> 1. During this reporting period, task force efforts were concentrated on <br /> marijuana eradication as well as locating and identifying persons cultivating <br /> marijuana. <br /> a. On September 19, 2003, officers executed a search warrant at a <br /> residence with an indoor grow operation located in the Orchidland <br /> Subdivision in the District of Puna, Hawaii. Officers recovered 147 <br /> marijuana plants, 2.6 pounds of dried marijuana, a .308 caliber <br /> semi-automatic rifle and marijuana growing paraphernalia (fluorescent <br /> lights, scale, pots, and fan). The 42-year-old male was arrested and <br /> charged. <br /> b. On January 28, 2004, a search warrant was executed at a residence <br /> located in the Black Sands Subdivision, Pahoa, in the District of Puna, <br /> Hawaii. Officers arrested and charged a 51-year-old female after officers <br /> recovered 66 marijuana plants, 96 grams of dried marijuana, fluorescent <br /> lights, timers, fans, and grow containers from an indoor grow at her <br /> residence. <br /> c. On October 10, 2003, a search warrant was executed at a residence <br /> located in Kainaliu, in the District of Kona, Hawaii. Officers arrested and <br /> charged four males, ages 26, 21, 29, and 46 and a 23-year-old female <br /> after officers recovered 101 marijuana plants, 306.8 grams of dried <br /> marijuana, 11 rifles and one pistol. <br /> 2. The Statewide Marijuana Eradication Task Force Grant has allowed task <br /> force officers to attend the following training during this reporting period: <br /> a. On September 17-19, 2003, ten officers attended a rappel recertification <br /> training course in Volcano and in Hilo; <br /> b. On February 23-27, 2004, one officer attended rappel training on Oahu. <br /> C. OUTCOME/IMPACT INDICATORS: <br /> 1. Grant funds have enabled Hawaii County to continue a vigorous and <br /> pro-active eradication program resulting in arrests and seizures of assets. <br /> <br />
