Box 877 <br /> Pepeekeo, Hawaii 96783 <br /> November 9, 2004 <br /> County Planning Committee <br /> County of Hawaii <br /> 25 Aupuni Street <br /> Hilo, HI 96720 <br /> RE: Bills # 355 and 356 <br /> Communication # 821 <br /> Continental Pacific LLC Request for Rezoning - Pepeekeo, Hawaii <br /> <br /> Aloha Members of the Planning Committee: <br /> On behalf of the members of the Pepeekeo Community Association, I am <br /> submitting testimony recommending and requesting your approval of Bills # 355 <br /> and #356 relating to Continental Pacific LLC's request for rezoning in Pepeekeo. <br /> <br /> I have also attached supportive testimony that was submitted by the Association <br /> in September 2003 and September 2004 regarding the Company's request for <br /> SMA approval, illustrative of the working relationship with the community. <br /> <br /> For the past 3+ years, the community has been in productive dialog and <br /> communication with Continental Pacific LLC. The attached testimonies are <br /> evidence of the progressive direction both parties have been moving in to <br /> address the concerns and comments expressed by community members who will <br /> experience the impact of the changing facets development that is evident in <br /> numerous communities along the coast and on the island. <br /> <br /> The rezoning application redesigns the district from agriculture to urban and <br /> limited commercial and industrial. In the general overview of the changing face <br /> of the area and island, the requests also allows for pleasant economic <br /> development that presents potential opportunities attractive to local <br /> entrepreneurs. Lessening the potential and possible density is certainly a <br /> welcomed consideration to the surrounding community. <br /> <br /> It is to the credit of the Pepeekeo Community, Hawaii County, our elected <br /> lawmakers and Continental Pacific LLC that positive and progressive dialog and <br /> outcomes address the health and wealth of the community it is affecting. Dialog <br /> and discussion is on-going between all parties and equates to the best decisions <br /> possible. Positive relationships have and continue to effect communication and <br /> decisions that are inclusive and progressive. <br /> <br /> We encourage your positive consideration and approval of Bills #355 and #356 <br /> And submit supportive testimony on behalf of the Pepeekeo Community <br /> Association.
