<br /> COUNTY OF HAWAII STATE OF HAWAII <br /> BILL NO. zso <br /> (Drat[ 7) <br /> ORDINANCE NO. <br /> AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 3, OF THE HAWAI`1 COUNTY CODE, BY <br /> REPEALING ARTICLE I -RELATING TO SIGNS, ADDING A NEW ARTICLE 1 - <br /> RELATING TO SIGNS, AND AMENDING ARTICLE 2 -RELATING TO [CAILUA <br /> VILLAGE SIGNS. <br /> BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWA[`I: <br /> SECTION I . Chapter 3, article I, of the Hawaii County Code relating to signs, is hereby <br /> repealed. <br /> SECTION 2. Chapter 3, of the Hawaii County Code is amended by adding a new article I, <br /> which shall read as follows: <br /> "CHAPTER 3 <br /> SIGNS <br /> Article 1. Signs <br /> Division I. Findings, Purpose and Scope <br /> Section 3-I. Findings and purpose. <br /> (a) The Council finds and declares that: <br /> (1) The people of the County have a primary interest in control ling the erection, <br /> location, and maintenance of outdoor signs in a manner designed to protect the <br /> public health, safety, and morals and to promote the public welfare and <br /> convenience; encourage and promote the visitor industry; and foster sightliness and <br /> physical good order; <br /> (2) The natural beauty of the County constitutes an attraction for visitors, and a <br /> substantial source of income and revenue of the people of the County is derived <br /> from the visitor industry; <br /> (3) The indiscriminate erection and improper maintenance of large signs seriously <br /> detract from the enjoyment and pleasure of the natural scenic beauty of the County, <br /> t <br /> <br />
