Pilago and Pete Hoffman, Co-Chairs <br /> Committee on Planning <br /> Hawaii County Council <br /> Dear Angel and Pete: <br /> I write to support your approval of Bill 163, Draft 1 at the Planning Committee meeting on January 4, <br /> 2005. The County has waited 15 years for approval of a new General Plan, when we should have <br /> had a new plan in place five years ago. With the new Council, there is hope that we will soon realize <br /> that legally mandated goal. <br /> Although other drafts have been put forward, I believe that Draft 1, having had many public meetings <br /> and a great deal of supportive testimony, is the version to be approved. It is not perfect, but it is far <br /> better than any other option. <br /> <br /> Thank you for your willingness to support Draft 1. I look forward to the passage of this General Plan, <br /> so that we can move on to Regional Plans with the level of detail we need to plan sensibly for the <br /> County's future growth. Another important step is coordinating the General and Regional Plans with <br /> <br /> the Water Master Plan, currently in development.
