PLANNED DEVELOPMENT <br />A great number of respondents (91 percent) agreed that Planned Development was crucial to the future of <br />our Island. Comments reflected frustration in the way the County currently handles development. <br />NATURAL BEAUTY <br />The greatest number of respondents agreed on the importance of protecting our Natural Beauty (95 <br />percent). There was no one who saw this protection as unimportant. <br />HAWAIIAN CULTURE <br />The majority of respondents saw protecting the Hawaiian Culture as important, with 67 percent seeing it <br />as very important and 27 percent seeing it as moderately important. Only 3 percent saw protecting this <br />culture heritage as unimportant. <br />WHAT DO YOU LIKE BEST ABOUT KONA <br />Themes mentioned with a frequency greater than twenty-five percent include: <br />❑ The people and their Aloha (35 percent) <br />❑ Small town atmosphere (31 percent) <br />❑ Weather (30 percent) <br />❑ Natural beauty (26 percent) <br />WHAT DO YOU LIKE LEAST ABOUT KONA <br />Themes mentioned with a frequency greater than twenty-five percent include: <br />❑ Unplanned and out -of -control development (28 percent) <br />❑ The political environment (26 percent) <br />
