The <br />property is located at the southwest comer of Kekuanaoa Avenue and Kalanikoa Street <br />approximately 483 feet west of Kanoelehua Avenue in Waiakea Houselots, South Hilo, <br />Hawaii, TMK: 2-2-37:16. <br />1. Land Ownership: The subject property is owned by the applicants. <br />2. Previous Use: According to the Real Property Tax Division, the subject property was <br />previously owned by Liborio and Becky Arquero from November 1946 to April 1983. <br />The former Arquero's U -Drive, a taxi service, was established on the subject property <br />in the 1960's. <br />PROPOSED REQUEST <br />3. Request: The applicants are requesting the change of zone in order to improve the <br />existing buildings and to convert and develop a general store and coffee/deli shop <br />operations on the subject property. According to the applicants, "The two existing <br />buildings would be remodeled with a 'classic -plantation -like facade' facing the <br />Kekuanaoa Street side visible to potential customers (visitor and local residents) who <br />would like a meal, a beverage, shop for unique 'local' products, or who would like to <br />gather in a nostalgic place filled with Big Island antiques." The applicants will <br />continue to reside in the existing two-story dwelling. <br />4. Proposed Site Plans Submitted: The site plan reflects the following: <br />a. The existing residence, the existing attached structure which will be converted <br />to the proposed general store consisting of 780 square feet and existing storage <br />Attach.
