• Work with the appropriate agencies to adopt appropriate measures and provide <br /> incentives to control point and nonpoint sources of pollution. <br /> • Support programs to prevent harmful alien species from becoming established. <br /> • Require golf courses to implement best management practices to limit leaching of <br /> nutrients to groundwater in areas where they may affect streams or coastal <br /> ecosystems. <br /> • Require implementation of the management measures contained in Hawaii's <br /> Coastal Nonpoint Pollution Control Program as a condition of land use <br /> permitting. <br /> • Review the County grading and grubbing ordinances to ensure that they <br /> adequately address potential erosion and runoff problems. <br /> STANDARDS <br /> • Pollution shall be prevented, abated, and controlled at levels that will protect and <br /> preserve the public health and well being, through the enforcement of appropriate <br /> Federal, State and County standards. <br /> • Incorporate environmental quality controls either as standards in appropriate <br /> ordinances or as conditions of approval. <br /> • Federal and State environmental regulations shall be adhered to. <br /> <br /> There are no courses of action defined at the community level. <br /> HISTORIC SITES <br /> GOALS <br /> • Protect, restore, and enhance the sites, buildings, and objects of significant <br /> historical and cultural importance to Hawaii. <br /> • Appropriate access to significant historic sites, buildings, and objects of public <br /> interest should be made available. <br /> • Enhance the understanding of man's place on the landscape by understanding the <br /> system of ahupuaa. <br /> POLICIES <br /> • Agencies and organizations, either public or private, pursuing knowledge about <br /> historic sites should keep the public apprised of projects. <br /> • Amend appropriate ordinances to incorporate the stewardship and protection of <br /> historic sites, buildings and objects. <br /> <br />
