All dogs in the county o(Hawaii are REQUIRED to wear a license at all times (even if it never leaves your <br /> propertyl. <br /> CAT I.D. Cats should wear I.D. tags (available at HIHS1 and can also be microchipped by your veterinarian. <br /> LOOSE ANIMALS: <br /> HCC 430 PENALTY FOR PERMITTING A DOG 70 STRAY <br /> In addition to other penalties listed in this chapter, the owner of any dog which strays upon any public <br /> lands or the private lands of another shall be fined $25, $50, $75, $500. a <br /> DEFECATION & NUISANCE PROHIBITED HCC 4-19: It is unlawful to allow your pet to defecate or <br /> cause any nuisance on any public street or private property without the permission of the property <br /> owner ; <br /> If you are having a problem with loose animals in your neighborhood, ou should: <br /> 1) Make a reasonable attempt to locate the owner of the animal(s) and work out the problem, <br /> 2) Work with your neighborhood association to encourage everyone to comply with <br /> ` animal regualfions, <br /> ' ~ ~ 31 Confine the animal and drop it off at the shelter or call the Humane Society <br /> e ' to pick up the animal. <br /> = 41 Borrow a cai/dog trap from the Humane Society IS25/$50 deposiil, once the animal is <br /> - _ <br /> - trapped, bring it to the shelter. - <br /> NOISY DOGS HCC 4-24: It is unlawful to allow your dog fo make any noise continuously or incessantly for a period of <br /> ten rnintues or intermittently for a period of twenty minutes Iday or nightl. <br /> If you are having a problem with a noisy dog(s) in your neighborhood, you should: <br /> ll Make reasonable attempts to work with the owner/keeper. <br /> 21 Notify the police. <br /> CRUELTY 771-1700: You must provide adequate food, water and shelter and keep the shelter reasonably clean and <br /> free from excess waste and other contaminants. <br /> SECTION 771-1109: Ii is cruelty to animals if a person overworks, tortures, torments, beats or starves or deprives a pet of <br /> fcod or water; mutilates, poisons or kills without need any domestic animal; or is in'any way involved in cock or dog <br /> flghiing <br /> J~NY CRUELTY VIOLATIONS SHOULD BE REPORTED TO US IMMEDIATELY. <br /> PENALTIES AND FINES: Animals can be impounded and owners can be issued ciPations and fines for the <br /> above violations in amounts ranging from $10 to $1000 including imprisonment for some offenses. <br /> F YOU LOSE YOUR ANIMAL, CONTACT THE HAWAII ISIAND HUMANE SOCIETY IMMEDIATELY.
