COUNTY OF HAWAII STATE OF HAWAII <br /> RESOLUTION N0. 93 <br /> WHEREAS, the Council of the County of Hawaii recognizes that a <br /> <br /> problem exists with the intrusion of helicopters and low flying <br /> <br /> aircraft over the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park; and <br /> WHEREAS, these intruding aircraft disturb and disrupt both the <br /> <br /> visitors and wildlife within the park; and <br /> WHEREAS, the increased aircraft traffic also poses safety <br /> concerns which need to be addressed; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Council of the County of Hawaii has formally taken <br /> a position urging the Federal Aviation Agency and the National Park <br /> Service to enter into an inter-agency agreement to resolve this <br /> problem; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Council of the County of Hawaii finds that <br /> Representative Patsy T. Mink has introduced a bill in the House of <br /> Representatives of the 103rd Congress to provide for the regulation <br /> of airspace over National Parks Systems Land in the State of Hawaii <br /> by the Federal Aviation Agency and the National Park Service; and <br /> WHEREAS, the proposed Federal legislation is applicable to all <br /> public properties managed by the National Park Service and provides <br /> for minimum altitudes for sensitive portions of the National Parks <br /> as well as a 2.0 mile stand off distance to National Historical <br /> Parks. <br /> <br />
