RESOLUTION CREATING AN ARCHITECTURAL DRAFTING TECHNICIAN I
POSITION FOR THE DEPARTMENT OF PARKS AND RECREATION
WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation relies on the Architectural Drafting
Technicians from the Department of Public Works' Building Division to perform drafting services on
jobs that are relatively small in scale and less complex; and
WHEREAS, the need for these drafting services has grown tremendously due to the
continued aging and deterioration of Parks and Recreation sites and facilities and the growing
demand for servicing by the expanding populace; and
WHEREAS, for the past several years, the Building Division has been unable to provide
these needed services to the Department of Parks and Recreation; and
WHEREAS, the creation an Architectural Drafting Technician I, SR-17 position for the
Department of Parks and Recreation will enable them to accomplish much of its necessary drafting
services without relying for assistance from others; and
WHEREAS, this Architectural Drafting Technician I position will also maintain a current data
set of site plans and floor plans for all Department of Parks and Recreation sites and facilities; and
WHEREAS, there are should be sufficient funds in the Parks and Recreation,
Administration's Regular Salaries and Wages account (010-500-5503.01-011); and
WHEREAS, Article V, Section 5-1.3(c) of the Hawaii County Charter states that the Mayor
has the power to "Create positions...fortyhich appropriations have been made by the council...".

of Parks and Recreation.
~E iT IFURTFIER RESOLVI~D that there should be sufficient funds in the Department of
Parks and Recreation, Administration`s Regular Salaries and Wages account (010-500-5503.01-
011).
~E IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be transmitted to the
Departments of Finance, Civil Service, and Parks and Recreation.
