From: Susan Van [cairomermaid@yahoo.com]
Sent: Monday, April 18, 2005 6:39 PM
To: Jacobson, Bob ~~lr'I; J `i !;~'i ~
Subject: Support of bills 78.79, and 80
~;Ch
To Councilman Jacobson and the entire County Council-
I wish to register my enthusiastic support for the three bills 78, 79, and 80 that will be considered on 19 April. It is urgent that
the county of Hawaii, in cooperation with the state and federal governments work quickly to preserve the still as yet
unspoiled natural and cultural treasures of our island. We all know that the Kau coastline is the largest stretch of undisturbed
land in the Islands and shelters endangered species.
Bill 78, dedicating 2 of our country property tax [o a preservation fund for open space and natural wonders assures that
moneys will be coming into the fund on a regular basis, and Bill 79, floating a 10 million bond to buy and preserve lands
immediately in danger is a necessity is seems iCwe are to receive matching funds from a state and federal level. Lastly Bill 80
viewing what has been happening in Pahala, seems critical because it ensures that no one will be left in the dark about how a
piece of ag land suddenly becomes residential development land- using a rezoning procedure that requires a public hearing is
the proper choice for assuring democratic participation in protecting our environment.
Mahalo for your wise consideration in preserving a future for us and our keiki.
Susan Van Dongen
Box 964
Naalehu,Hi 96772
Do You Yahoo!?
Tired of Spam?
