It is very <br /> uncharacteristic of me to support development, but I take exception to my normal pint of <br /> view because 1 believe this developmlent includes the specifications that the citizens have <br /> been promoting for many yeazs. Thee accommodations to the will o f the people <br /> include: <br /> • A mauka-makai connector that will make access from Alii Drive east to <br /> Queen K. <br /> • A small neighborhood shopping center that will provide access to services <br /> without the residents of thle subdivision having to use Queen K highway at ail. <br /> • Affordable housing that is the most sought after relief for the average ciirzen <br /> • A location that is already to an urban corridor rather than exclusively miles <br /> from shopping and servicds that result in spot zoning. <br /> People are moving to Kona. I do prof want to see more traffic and certainly woc.!d hke <br /> Kona to remain as it is, but that in nod feasible. If we do not allow people to move <br /> areas that azc built with community it~ mind, we will succeed in encouraging half hszazd <br /> development with more dire consequences. <br /> 1 appreciate your involvement, your energetic attempts so far to improve the <br /> conditions and poor infrastructure on ithe west side of the island.
