Angel Pilago <br /> Honorable County Councilman Gary Safarik <br /> 25 Aupuni St. <br /> Hilo_ Hawaii 96720 <br /> Aloha, kakou! <br /> I strongly support Bill 78: <br /> Amends Chapter 2 of the Hawaii County Code, as Amended, Relating to Public Access, Open <br /> Space, and Natural Resources Preservation Fund. <br /> {Creates a permanment funding source, which would he used for acquiring lands or property <br /> entilements for: public outdoor recreation and education, culturally important land areas and <br /> sites; protection of natural resources, including buffer zones; preservation of forests, beaches, <br /> coastal areas and agricultural lands; protection of watershed lands to preserve water quality and <br /> water supply; and public access to, and enjoyment of public lands and open space.} <br /> The establishment of a Preservation Fund and its purpose (s) for the Hawaii County is very <br /> important to all residents, visitors and future generations. <br /> As the recently approved February 2005 Hawaii County General Plan, Draft 6 states: <br /> <br /> 6.
