06/09/2005 14:46 326569' KCO Fu~;E a2

Eoff,Karen

From: Karen Lopossa [Iopossak002~hawaii.rr.com]

Sent: Wednesday, June 08, 2005 8:53 AM
10: Pilago, K. Angel
Subject: SUFFOLK Development
Aloha Angel:
I am a resident of Kahakai and very concerned about the proposed development between Kuikini and the Queen k
Highways.
First off, our roads will not support another 300+ residents plus additional traffic visiting the commercial establishments
talked to Pete Hoffman and he gave me his take on how these "low income" resitlen1s would eliminate traffic on the
highway because they would be Goser to theirjobs...and who really knows thai7777 We cannot afford tugh densny
housing in this are until our roads are (Hwy and Kuikini) ere made into at least 4 lanes around the island.
Secondly. there are currently 2 roads within approximately 1 mile (Lako and Walua) that are connectors with Alii
Hwy... why would it even be considered to run a public highway down Nakukui and add another connector road to the
new bypass? NaKUKuI Is a private wad (maintained by homeowners) and ham a down slope from Kuikini that. unless
applying breaks all the way down the slope, naturally encourages highly accelerated speeds...,much too fast for a
residential neighborhood.
Ultimately we, the homeowners at Kahakai, would like to put a gate up at our entrance. This is not to maKe it an
unfriendly neignborheod but to disrnurage unwanted quests. We ere Constantly being burglarized or harassed by
unwanted "night prowlers". In the past week alone we have had lwo burglaries and one the week before. These are s
frequent occurrence on the new construction sites
We plead with you to help us out_ We are very frustrated that we are paying for private roads and private pa^k that are
open to the public to use and abuse and now the threat of Nakukui becoming an thoroughfare to the bypass.
Mahalo from a very concemed resident....
Karen Lopossa
1 Comm.
