As a resident of
Kailua-Kona, I appreciate what you are doing, especially having meetings in the area that is
affected. Many residents also give praise to you and the Council for having the May 3, 2005
meeting here in our home town.
I'm sure you are aware, the primary concern to us is the proposed Suffolk/Puapua'aiki
development and it's ramifications. As indicated in previous Council hearings, the majority of the
residents are opposed to such development. The main reason for opposition being the lack of an
adequate infrastructure and the detrimental impact to residential areas.
The developers insist that it will eliminate traffic. Please tell us how adding 800 to 1000
additional vehicles per day will ELIMINATE traffic. Also, the proposed development is in the heart
of a residential area and the homeowners do not want a shopping center at their doorsteps
bringing air, noise, and traffic pollution. More traffic lights will be needed which in turn will slow
down the already crawling traffic. The existing schools are over-crowded and if the developers
propose to build additional schools, qualified teachers are very difficult to find, if not
impossible. Please think of our children.
Hear our plea and do not approve this development that at this time will hurt our community.
There will be a time when future development will be welcomed and encouraged by
the community but today is not that time.
With respect,
Dorothy R. Moore
Comm,~~o.--vv~~~'
Ref. To~'°'°~-
Ref. Date JUN 1 20 'S

6/ 14/2005
