We are revising some sections of Chapter 27 of the Hawaii County <br /> Code to comply with the minimum requirements of the National Flood Insurance Program <br /> (NFIP) and Related Regulations. The following is a brief description of the two ordinances <br /> proposing to amend Chapter 27. <br /> A) Proposed Ordinance <br /> Section 1 - This section of the proposed ordinance amends the provisions on "Substantial <br /> Improvements", Section 27-12(a)(61), to include buildings constructed after May <br /> 5, 1982 which were not within a special flood hazazd azea at the time of issuing <br /> the building permit. <br /> Section 2 - This section of the proposed ordinance amends the provisions of Section 27-13, <br /> "Nonconforming Structures", to include structures existing on May 5, 1982, <br /> made nonconforming by a change in the special flood hazard area. <br /> Section 3 - This section of the proposed ordinance revises Section 27-18, to require floors <br /> for residential new construction and substantial improvements, to be elevated to <br /> or above the base flood elevation. Section 3 of this proposed ordinance also <br /> amends the floodproofing requirements for nonresidential new construction and ~jq, <br /> substantial construction. Goaaa ]Ii V <br /> P11e lta.
