qtr ar M,~ <br /> dy <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAII STATE OF HAWAII <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 218 U5 <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM THE DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT(S) AND CREDITING SAMF, TO <br /> <br /> A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT(S) <br /> WHEREAS, a $5,000.00 appropriation for a supplemental grant to the Big Island <br /> Filipino Council to honor the first group of Filipino sakadaa~ (farm workers) who were <br /> recruited by the Hawaii Sugar Planters Association to work on the Hawaii sugar plantations; <br /> and <br /> WHEREAS, the supplemental grant will support the year-long festivities, which will <br /> commemorate and honor the centennial of the sakadas for their contribution to the Big Island; <br /> and <br /> WHEREAS, the Kea'au Celebration is where the site of the former Ola`a Sugar <br /> Plantation is found and where the first group of 15 Filipino workers were assigned on <br /> December 20, 1906; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Kca'au and Hilo Celebrations arc part of a statewide centennial <br /> anniversary (1906-2006) of the Filipinos in Hawaii. <br /> NOW THERF,FORF,, BE IT RESOLVED BY THF.
