This <br /> <br /> community is further ahead of most other communities in the planning stages and needs Hawaii County <br /> <br /> backing and funding. <br /> <br /> (2) an additional $590,000 in the Waimea Trails and Greenways project to supplement the $1,117,000 <br /> <br /> that has been invested to date, with a planned $1,900,000 to be invested the year after. <br /> <br /> This is needed to give some of the school children, walkers, cyclists, and joggers an alternate to being on <br /> <br /> the very heavily traveled streets. <br /> <br /> (3) $100,000 in West Hawaii Traffic Calming Improvements, with a planned $1,000,000 to be invested <br /> <br /> the year after (location unstated, but we sure need some in Waimea because ratracers exceed 60 mph on <br /> <br /> 20 mph residential side streets.) <br /> <br /> (4) $200,000 to be invested in Mamalahoa Highway drainage and road improvements from Kamamalu <br /> Street to Mud Lane to supplement the $1,000,000 that has been invested to date, with a planned <br /> $1,500,000, $6,000,000 and $4,000,000 to be invested in subsequent years. <br /> Previous street widening for left turn lanes either had insufficient base course or compacting with the <br /> result that the added portion of the pavement has subsided as much as six inches. <br /> <br /> (5) $130,000 to be invested in Saddle Road improvements, with a planned $500,000 to be invested in <br /> <br /> the year after. <br /> Comm.
