M <br /> ~~~141 <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAII STATE OF HAWAII <br /> ~Ji ~ <br /> •'~•I Of M•~' <br /> RESOLUTION NO. ~ti4 U6 <br /> RESOLUTION CREATING A GRANT COORDINATOR POSITION FOR THE <br /> DEPARTMENT OF RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT <br /> WHEREAS, the Hawaii County Resource Center (HCRC) was developed in the <br /> Department of Research and Development to develop and reinforce the communication network <br /> among island-wide communities and government agencies through training workshops, facilitated <br /> meetings, collaboration, team-building and problem-solving opportunities, grantsmanship <br /> assistance, networking and more; and <br /> WHEREAS, presently, the HCRC has a grant specialist position, which has been very <br /> successful serving the needs of county departments and community groups alike, has been <br /> inundated with requests for assistance and has been unable to provide the administrative and full <br /> range of needs to adequately develop the grant program; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Grant Coordinator is needed to develop data bases, design and implement <br /> <br /> various grantsmanship trainings, provide technical assistance, develop a grant coaching and <br /> mentoring program, build County departments' capacity to increase grant income, work with <br /> communities in the CDP process to encourage grant writing opportunities for projects, etc., develop <br /> public information fliers and newsletters regarding grants, and to draft and implement county-wide <br /> <br /> grants; and <br /> WHEREAS, the creation of the Grant Coordinator, SR-24, position will also allow for full- <br /> <br /> time grant services to be extended to West Hawaii; and <br /> WHEREAS, there should be sufficient funds in the Department of Research and <br /> Development Regular Salaries and Wages account (010-161-5161.01-011); and <br /> <br />
