WHEREAS, September 8, 2006, is the sixtieth calendar day prior to the next scheduled general election; and WHEREAS, September 23, 2006, is the forty-fifth day prior to the next scheduled general election. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY TAE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that it hereby directs the Clerk of the County of Hawaii to take all necessary steps provided for in all applicable provisions of the Hawaii County Charter and the Hawaii Revised Statutes, within the prescribed time limits, for placing the Charter amendment proposed by Ordinance No. 06-51 on the 2006 General Election ballot for approval by the voters of the County. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that those actions include but not be limited to submission of the ballot question to Dwayne D. Yoshina, Chief Election Officer of the State of Hawaii, prior to 4:30 p.m., September 8, 2006, pursuant to Section 11-119(b), Hawaii Revised Statutes, and publication of the full text of the Charter amendment proposed by Ordinance No. 06-51 in the Hawaii Tribune Herald and the West Hawaii Today, two newspapers of general circulation in the county, prior to Saturday, September 23, 2006, the forty-fifth day prior to the 2006 General Election, pursuant to Section 15-2, Hawaii County Charter. BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that certified copies of this resolution be sent to Dwayne D. Yoshina, Chief Election Officer of the State of Hawaii; and Constance Kiru, Clerk of Hawaii County.
