Arakaki, Chairman <br /> and Members of the County Council <br /> County of Hawaii <br /> 25 Aupuni Street <br /> Hilo, HI 96720 <br /> Dear Chairman Arakaki and Members: <br /> Change of Zone Ordinance No. 96-9 (REZ 813) <br /> Applicant: Scott & Susan Nakahara <br /> Request: Amendment to Condition F (Roadway Improvements) <br /> Tax Man Key; 4-3-3:31 <br /> The Planning Commission, after a duly held public hearing on November 13, 1997, voted to <br /> recommend for your approval the proposed legislative bill to amend Condition F (roadway <br /> improvements) of Ordinance No. 96 9, which reclassified approximately 14.913 acres of land <br /> from an Agricultural (A-40a) to Agricultural (A-la) zoned district. The property is located <br /> between the Mamalahoa Highway and the Old Main Road, north of Paauilo Village at Hauola, <br /> Opihilala, Hamakua, Hawaii. <br /> The Commission concurs with the following Planning Director's reasons for recommending <br /> favorable consideration of the request: <br /> The purpose of this request is to amend Condition F in the ordinance which <br /> relates to roadway improvements, as the applicant has revised their access plans for the <br /> development. <br /> The subject property is located immediately on the Honokaa side of Paauilo <br /> Village. Access to [he property is from Hauola Road and Pohakea Road which are <br /> County maintained roadways. Hauola Road has a 50-foot wide right-of-way with <br /> 18-foot wide pavement and grass shoulders. Pohakea Road also has a 50-foot wide <br /> right-of-way with 16-foot wide pavement and grass shoulders. Both roads are presently <br /> <br />
