No. 321-06 <br /> PLACE: Council Chambers <br /> TIME: 10:18 a.m. <br /> Council Chair and Members <br /> Hawaii County Council <br /> Hilo, Hawaii 96720 <br /> Your Committee on Finance, to which was refereed Resolution No. 321-06, reports as follows: <br /> Resolution No. 321-06, transmitted jointly with Bill No. 272 by Director of Finance <br /> William Takaba, via Communication No. 834, dated April 17, 2006, authorizes the Office of the <br /> Mayor to enter into an agreement with the State of Hawaii, Hawaii Tourism Authority for a <br /> Waipi`o Park Ranger Pilot Program. <br /> The State of Hawaii, Hawaii Tourism Authority through its Natural Resources Program has <br /> authorized a $60,000 grant to the Department of Reseazch and Development for the start of a <br /> Waipi`o Pazk Ranger Pilot Program. <br /> Specifically, these funds will be used to develop, plan and implement a one (1)-yeaz pilot <br /> program to contract rangers to staff the county pazk at the Waipi`o Scenic Overlook to monitor <br /> commercial and visitor activity, report any illegal activity to law enforcement, serve as <br /> educational resources for the public, enhance the visitor experience, and protect the environment. <br /> Pursuant to Section 46-7, Hawaii Revised Statutes, county departments must obtain the consent <br /> of the Council to enter into agreements with the federal or state governments respecting action to <br /> be taken pursuant to any of the powers granted by law to furnish, expend and receive any funds <br /> or other assistance in connection with projects being or to be undertaken pursuant to those <br /> <br /> powers. <br /> Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 321-06 <br /> and recommends its adoption. <br /> <br /> smc <br /> Hues rvoes nee ex Respectfully submitted, <br /> ARAKAW X <br /> x?cA x COMMITTEE ON FINANCE <br /> HOFFMANN X <br /> HOLSCHUH X I I~1 ~ <br /> IKEDA XUI ',a/V~/ Ud <br /> ISBELL X - I <br /> aACOSSON x VIRG IA ISBELL, CHAIR <br /> PILAGO X FC REPORT NO. 293 <br /> SAFARIK X ADOPTED: MAY ~ ~ ~~06 <br /> <br />
