No. 835Bi11 No. 273 <br /> <br /> PLACE: Council Chambers <br /> <br /> TIME: 10:18 a.m. <br /> Council Chair and Members <br /> Hawaii County Council <br /> Hilo, Hawaii 96720 <br /> Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Bill No. 273, reports as follows: <br /> Bill No. 273, transmitted by County Clerk Constance R. Kiriu, via Communication No. 835, <br /> dated April 18, 2006, seeks to initiate a Charter Amendment to the Hawaii County Charter <br /> (2000), relating to verifying and certifying petitions for Initiative and Referendum, Removal of <br /> Elected Officers and Charter Amendment or Revision. <br /> This measure proposes to eliminate the requirement of providing social security numbers for <br /> verifying and certifying petitions for Initiative and Referendum, Removal of Elected Officers <br /> and Charter Amendment or Revision; changes the number of days the County Clerk has to verify <br /> and certify petitions and supplemental petitions from twenty days to twenty working days and <br /> five days to five working days respectively; deletes the mailing address provisions because only <br /> the residence address is required to identify and verify a properly registered voter on a petition; <br /> and other housekeeping changes.. <br /> Your Committee heard testimony in favor to this measure. <br /> County Clerk Constance R.
