Angel
Subject: Testimony- Bill 268

14 May 2006

Re: Bill 268 - Charter Amendment to hold equal number of meetings in West Hawaii.

TO: County of Hawaii County Council Members

FROM: Tina A. Mohr, 73-4787 Halolani Street, Kailua-Kona, HI 96740 / Phone: 960-7292

My name is Tina A. Mohr. I have lived in the Hawaiian Islands since 1985 and been a resident of West Hawaii
since 1988. 1 will be off island on Oahu May 17, 2006 during the County Council meeting to be held in East
Hawaii but wanted to take this opportunity to state that I strongly support Bill 268 introduced by Councilman
Pilago. West Hawai'i residents should have Fair and Equitable Access to Government by holding equal number
of meetings in West Hawaii as in East Hawaii. Oftentimes I have wanted to attend meetings but because they
were in East Hawaii, have not been able to attend due to being unable to travel to East Hawaii. It only makes
sense to hold an equal number of meetings in both East and West Hawaii to allow our Hawaii Island residents
equal access to government meetings. I particularly thank Councilman Pilago for his good sense and
commitment to fair and equitable government for all of Hawaii Island citizens by introducing Bill 268. Too, I thank
our County of Hawaii council members in advance for voting "YES" for Bill 268 as it is clearly the right choice.
Thank you for reviewing my written testimony; please take it to heart as well as into action so as to take all steps
necessary to get the charter amendment proposed in Bill 268 on the ballot in November. Mahalo.

Cmm. No. 25.6
Ref. ToiLm ~
Ref.
